Scanner which is not required to run from a computer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I need to know the product name of a scanner which can be used without a computer. This is for a visually impaired person. The cost, the model and the company.

Thanking you in anticipation

Regards

Sylvia

Sorry Sylvia,

I'm not sure that I understand the question. Scanners, almost by definition, are meant to be connected to computers. They digitise images.

Perhaps if you explained the application a bit more fully you might get a more helpful response.

I agree with the comment about the intended use. A generic answer though, might be a product I've seen by Microtek (note, MicroteK, not MicroTECH) that lets you scan to a floppy, and (I think) a Zip disk. I think it's called something like the "ImageDeck", but you can doubtless learn all about it on their web site. (www.microtek.com).
