I thought that there was too much deception in this episode, what with Finch putting the fake cast on the girl and Corday tempting Rollins with the morphine. I really don't think that there is morphine in the syringe--how could she get away with that? Also, did anyone find Deb Chen--excuse me, Jing-Mei--as pompous as I did? She seemed too full of herself and too eager to show off to and show up Carter.

There were many silly things in this episode. I do not think Lizzy would be that stupid and yes the whole morphine, bring the sister thing in was a little over the top. I also did not like Deb, what's her name, thing. She made Lucy look good. I did like the way Carter kept calling her Deb. He is so "the man."

All I can think of is, that in the near future Dean is going to be checking to see if Eizabeth is a natural redhead. Somehow I keep seeing an attack, ala Mark, in her future. It looks like Mark and Elizabeth are going to be getting closer yet in the near future. Mark's father is going to be driving him nuts and Elizabeth's mother's visit is going to be getting on her nerves. My only question is, whose apartment are they going to be going to to escape their respective parents?

Of course its not morphine. Probably some other kind of drug that won't kill him. I would have done the same thing. I do not like "Deb", as Carter calls her. Who cares!

I agree; it's almost certainly not morphine. I also was not particularly glad to see Deb a/k/a Jing-mei back--I didn't much like her the first time around, and I don't much like her now. Despite her alleged conversion to caring about the patients, I see absolutely no difference between the old and the new Debs. And what was the point in bringing her back anyway? The show is certainly not lacking for characters at this point, and she seems to serve no purpose other than to replace Lucy as a foil for Carter. Which he doesn't need, IMHO.

I also found this episode rather too soap-opera-ish. My favorite scene was the one where Mark and his father are sitting and talking on the floor of the house in San Diego. That was the most natural, least contrived part of the show.

I didn't like Carter when he was sniping at Lucy and I don't like him trading jabs with Deb. I don't like her period. how about Deb and Benton? That would make for a pretty "know it all" pairing! LOL

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Luka telling Kerry about his family. We all knew it was coming, and I wonder why he told *her*- that seems like something you would tell a friend, not use it to make a point. But then, Kerry does have to be hit over the head, occasionally, to get it. I thought it would be better for the show if he had just walked out without saying anything. I also enjoyed the scene at Mr Greene's house- when they both raised the bottles at the same time was very nice. Rawlins's arc has driven me insane- because he is so unbearable and because he always beats Elizabeth- I hope that this time She wins. Bringing in the sister was stupid- I know they were desperate but who didn't see that coming a mile away? Good episode tho. It's not often we get to hear Kerry say "I'm sorry".

Hi everybody,

I agree with everyone about Corday and the syringe, this is kind of a predictable plot. I hope this is a sign that this disgusting character will be out soon, I hate that Corday has to keep dealing with it. I know that the family needs to exhaust all possibilities to find their family member, but why would this sorry excuse for a human being divulge the whereabouts of her body? I don't see it happening, who knows we'll see? Regarding Jing-Mei's character, someone commented that she seems the same as before. I agree, and disagree. Before "Deb" seemed so unsure of her place in medicine, still had the pompous attitude though. Now, she seems confident & she actually enjoys practicing medicine..still has the attitude. The thing though, is that she really seems to know her stuff, no one can argue that. I think she likes to have healthy competition w/ Carter, but I don't think she has any intention of causing him any insult. She knows Carter is an excellent physician. I just wanted to drop a quick line about Dr. Dave. I really am starting to like him! Sure, he's abnoxious at times, but he has shown in the past couple of episodes that he has a heart. He handled the lymphoma case really well in this episode ("Family Matters").

Although I think that Chen is a bit too smug for someone who screwed up as badly as she did, I do think she makes a good foil for Carter. Also, won't it be a hoot if she and Dave get together? I have to say, Dr. Dave is growing on me. At first I didn't like him, but now I think he adds something to the show. At least Carter has someone to talk to, which he hasn't since Gant died. Now if we could just find the right woman for him . . . .

I liked the episode, and thought Deb Chen's attitude was pretty true-to-life -- a lot of young doctors suffer from the "God-complex" (I've also heard it described as "unencumbered by self-doubt or humility"). As for Elizabeth Corday, I will *never* understand why she lets that idiot murderer push her around, but she's a smart, independent woman character and I figure she knows what she's doing. I'm sure it was not morphine in the syringe, for she knows better than to think he'll give her what she wants -- it was just a way to manipulate him. It was great to see her character taking a stronger role, though -- it's about time. As for Luka, I thought his revealing what happened to his family was well-done -- he just said it, quickly and simply, and walked out, which is very in keeping with his character's reserve and private nature. I've been wondering all along what happened to his family. I'm just glad we were spared too much of Lucy in this episode -- her character irritates me!
