Thank you!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

To all,

A simple thank you will never suffice. For those of you who have a "behind the scenes" understanding of Y2k and my involvement over the last 3-1/2 years, I appreciate the past and continued support. For those of you who don't know or haven't figured it out, it's not really all that important anyway. I appreciate your support as well.

It continues to be my distinct honor and pleasure to play javelin catcher for the lunatic fringe on both sides of the Y2k issue. Sometimes truth is indeed stranger than fiction. ;-)

Is a Y2k summation necessary at this point? I don't see a lot of value in that, since the lights are on. Twenty years down the road, if you're still interested (and we're all still here, God willing), give me a call and I'll tell ya a few stories over a cold beer.

Finally, an administrative note: the forum software has not been sending out automatic forum updates via email for a week or so. Philip Greenspun disabled that feature of the software due to extremely high traffic in the days leading up to January 1. I hope he'll see fit to re-enable it in the near future.

I might just take you up on that. :^)

Rick and everyone else As a lurker to this forum, I would like to take this time to thank you for everything. I have read most of the posts, not always understanding them all. The technique things, the fun times; the fighting back and forth and have enjoyed them all. They did help me prepare for what could have happened; just glad it was not fully needed. But then again, it helped to make others aware that is it not a bad thing to be prepared for any bad times. I would like to take this time to wish each and every one of you all the best for the New Year and all the years to come. A long time lurker.

Rick,

Thank YOU as well, for being willing to help this "newbie" with the greenspun software.

By the way, with a little help from my "press card in the hat-band friends" I'm adding what I think could become a good feature at my site: A daily "Y2k Global Headline News Update," that includes some of the more obscure stories that don't routinely show up at the regular news watering holes.

The first one went up today

You can check it out here.

Y2k Global Headline News Update for January 7, 2000

Thanks again, and best of luck to you all!

Rick, thank you for taking the time to moderate this forum. This became my permanent home for Y2k discussions several months ago because you did such a good job of keeping the posts on topic and away from personality conflicts.

I am one who would like to see a summation by you, if you are up to it. I'm not ready just yet to close the discussion, although many others seem to be...I'll e-mail you with some questions...

Anyway, thanks again for all your hard efforts moderating this forum.
