greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Peter Canelo of Morgan stanley Dean Whitter in an nterview on CNBC at 7:05 was stating some of his views on why the sell off of the NASDAQ, he said "we are have seen a number of Y2K incidents and are seeing more...". Well, It is finally becoming to unweildly to to keep the amount of damage being done by computer system failure a secret. The dam is beginning to burst. Sorry polly's, your world is going to be rocked.

Jesus was that guy nervous. He was clearly rattled and shaken up by whatever news he got today. Looks like Fleckenstein's guy Hickey got it right on techs. Nuclear Winter is here for them.

Nice to hear someone with Canelo's weight talking about this.

Add LU to the mix, and it promises to make for interesting television tomorrow morning.

Do you have a link on Peter Canelo comments. I have been checking CNBC's site for this info. Sorry for doubting the truth of your statements, but with so much trash being posted, I need verification.

Thanks

I've been getting my ass handed to me about Y2K by everyone and their grandma. But I hate people who Monday morning QB like champs. Buncha dorks with no brain whatsoever.

I also dislike pollies who crow about their wonderful prognositcations . For the record you guys were dead right on a lot of things (although the jury is DEFINITELY out on some others). But the truth is, if things had gone bad, or do yet, you people will look pretty foolish and maybe your families will suffer for it. I was/am willing to have others think me an idiot when it comes to trying to protect my family. That's all about love and honor. Think about it.

In any event, a major polly had to admit today that he heard from a reliable source that a refinery prob down in the gulf WAS related to a computer problem. Shoulda seen the look on his face.

50 pounds of beans $16.00

1000 rounds of 7.62 Nato $82.00

Look on a pollies face as he realizes he was wrong, PRICELESS!

Was the show 'Business Center'? Cuz if it was, it will replay at 1am CST.

Personally, while I prepared, I don't a thrill out of someone who goes into shock like that. I rather them be as informed as possible and prepared with no panic.

Yes, I think it was. It's the show where they report from the NYSE floor after hours.

The interviewer was the chubby blonde (sorry, I know I'ma sexist pig).

-- Gordon (g_gecko_69@hotmail.com), January 06, 2000.

Yeah, the show was Business Center. It re-airs at 2 am Eastern, which means that interview will show up around 2:35 or so. The interviewer was Sweet Suzie Hererra...

Don't worry--Sue Herrara doesn't care what you think about her. She has a great job and is already married as well.

I wonder if Maria B will be all flustered tommorrow?

I love it when she gets all nervous. Sorry, couldn't contain myself.
