*** PAGING ANDY ROWLAND: Could you give an update to "VISA is toast"?

Andy:

About a month back in response to one of my posts about the banks knowing about y2k for 25-30 years (since they started putting 25-30 year mortagages on the books) you directed to me your very interesting post:

VISA is toast.

You gave a lot of credible information from one who was obviously in the know. Could you give us an update, if you had a chance to check with your old buddies still at VISA. What's happening and if nothing special, do you or they have any speculations or facts about why not?

TIA (thanks in advance)

Visa isn't toast......they never were going to be toast!!

This is ANDY you are dealing with....... what do you mean "credible information"?

I thought it was someone different because the VISA is toast item is signed:

Hmm, I'll have to see if I can find the thread where I was told to go and read the post and see who told me to go read "VISA is toast".

Regardless, the post is based on first hand information (assuming ANDY is not lying) rather than a lot of speculation. The fact that VISA may be ok now, does not mean the info was not credible. It just turned out to be a bad prediction, like 99% of the others us doomers had made or believed appear to be so far (but I'm still waiting for 31.Jan.2000 before I move my opinion to below 2).

I'm afraid you'll have to wait until a Gold Eagle editorial tells him his opinion.

That is, or was Andy's email address. He has several email addresses, as he travels. That one is old, and he likely no longer uses it.

This posting does seem to lend credence to his assertions:

Yup, I wrote Visa is toast.

The information in the thread and follow up threads describes what may happen in a corrupt data situation. Seems like it hasn't happened yet. That doesn't mean that it's not happening. Check back end of March. [I'm hearing of lots of very minor CC glitches - personally I've been trying to get a new pin/card from Equifax for months and they cannot follow through - still waiting, and no one can explain why. I'm sure there's a few Deutschebanks out there, they just don't know it yet...]
