TERRORISM- WORLD-WIDE:

ERRI Director Says At Least Two Terror Attacks Thwarted by U.S. Forces

By Paul Anderson

Chicago, IL (EmergencyNet News) - Despite the arrests of at least 16 people in several different countries and on the Canadian/U.S. border, media pundits and other critics continue to complain that the threat of Y2K terrorist attacks was "vastly overblown" and "a hoax perpetrated by scare-mongers." Clark Staten, ERRI's Executive Director and Sr. National Security analyst, says bluntly, "I respectfrully disagree...ERRI analysts now believe that U.S. law enforcement, military, and intelligence officials successfully thwarted at least two, if not more, terrorist attacks scheduled to coincide with the Year2000 transition."

"Although many of the details have not been publicly released, due to on-going investigations, we believe that the men and women of our protective services have done an extraordinary job of defending America and her interests throughout the world during a very trying time," Staten added. "Regardless of these successes, this is not a time to let down our guard," Staten continued. "Our concerns are now focusing on the possibility that the 'bad guys' found our security preparations too tough, and our alert levels too high, to carry out an attack... they are now waiting for our vigilance to decline with time, so that they can then carry out their murderous acts," Staten concluded.
