Are we grasping at straws! We have been wanting a change, maybe we should change our selves!

Should we not change ourselves first.

...change from what to what? How would you like us to change? From responsible parents and citizens who are smart enough to plan ahead to foolish wastrels who refuse to recognize problems on the horizon? ...from aware, informed posters to ranting pollies? You'll have to let us know where you'd like to see us change. Speaking for myself, I'm rather happy with my life. I'm a recovered alcoholic (my greatest accomplishment, as far as I'm concerned), a proud mother of five lovely adults who are all productive, responsible, respectful, and intelligent; a good wife to a husband who is the definition of decency and fidelity. I'm a writer, as well as proficient in old- time housekeeping abilities and techniques. What should I change here, for instance? Or does the fact that most of the posters on this list are prepared and you aren't have something to do with your question?

It does seem that many of us are desperately seeking a change but have not the fortitude nor want to make the necessary sacrifices required to slow down the treadmill. Y2K was the "out" we needed but it did not materialize. Se we are now truly "grasping". This could be a "wake up" call for many - will be sieze the moment or wait for something else to play our hand???

Do you have change for

Liz,

Do you think "change" would change from rich to poor? I don't think so.

By your definition, you Liz, are richer than 99.9% of the world today. You, your husband and your family are truly God blessed.

Good post, Liz!

Many of us have used this experience as a driver to change ourselves. We've thought of our families and their safety, we've thought of our neighbors (and in many cases we've put some aside for them), we've thought of leading simple and more self sufficient lives, and many of use have taken the steps to do just that.

Many who are long term residents of this forum and the prep forum have looked at the world around us and found it full of danger. We've changed in order to meet that danger. As a result, many are prepared for disruptions in our just in time lifestyle, whether those disruptions rise from war or terrorist action or fire or flood or earthquake. That's change

It takes a fairly intellegent person to realize the direction our world's populace is headed. We need to change ourselves regarding EGO. People tend to have children because it reflects our need to support the ego. There are too many people on this planet. Having only one child is being considerate to the rest of us who are childless and planning to have a child. This goes for people who are planning for the future, not for those who've already beared children. Regarding preparations: We will need to prepare more and more for upcoming certainties. Staying focused on survival is important with the potential for Nuclear war and the lack of food and water due to climatic changes. We need to create undeground havens moreso than ever before. There is a greater threat to our well being due to nuclear proliferation and the plans to use them. This country of ours is very unprepared for attack. We need to become just as physical as we are mental. We are too soft and spoiled and need to harden ourselves. Get off your asses now or soon. Save the preparations that will last longer and use up the ones that won't. Replace the ones you've used up with fresh ones. Y2k is the tip of the iceberg. This is common sense.
