COASTAL LOSES POWER AT EAGLE POINT REFINERY

Coastal's 140,000 b/d Eagle Point, New Jersey refinery suffered an early morning power outage that could keep the facility cold for at least 24 hours, sources tell OPIS. A Coastal spokesman confirmed that there was a loss of "internal generated power" at the refinery at 7:15 a.m. EST and it lasted for approximately 15 minutes. Refinery personnel are now in the process of restarting all affected units and were making sure that no significant damage resulted from the power loss. Sources close to refinery operations tell OPIS that an event such as this results in about two days of downtime. But Coastal hopes to have the major units up and running by tomorrow, according to a company spokesman. So far the news has not had a major effect on the NY spot market. Differentials on gasoline and low sulfur diesel were a little stronger this morning but when the NYMEX losses are factored in, the absolute spot market values are actually lower verses Tuesday's quotes.
