Could someone check and see if Y2K Pro has died and fallen on his keyboard?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I think his hand must be resting on the "Enter" key while the cursor is still on the "submit" icon!

Poor Y2K Pro. It's funny, but while most of us are overjoyed, he is just showing what a pathetic, demented, and sad little creature he is. Not that this is exactly any kind of big revelation....

Sysops and other forum readers should be so lucky

He died a long time ago. The zombie just spews forth decaying vile bile.

All this whining by certain parties about their threads getting deleted...bah! I just had one of my own deleted (a response to Y2K Pro) and guess what? I DON'T CARE! It's no big deal! It matters nada to me...I HAVE a life! Why can't they just get on with their lives? Grumble....

I think he's jsut waiting. Just out of curiousity, why does everyone think it's a he, why not a she. . . but anyways. When the whole world finally admits to themselves that the bug is dead, Y2K will press enter and we'll all be sorry for assuming that there's nothing to worry about.

sysops won't let him play here no more

-- I Am (disappointed@pollys.com), January 04, 2000.

boom,

Good point, could be a she. I think we are just used to such pugnacity mainly coming from the male gender...unfair bias to be sure. Hey, maybe all of the more virulent spammers are actually one deranged maniac with a laptop posting from their jail cell under different names. Just a theory.

I heard he developed a severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome.

One hand was on the keyboard, the other was in his lap.

You got it, Plonk. Jay's question assumes that Y2K Probe has two hands above waist level...kinda doubt it. At least, if Jay's right, in a few days someone may notice a bad smell (well, worse than usual), coming from Probe's single-wide and investigate.

I gotta admit, when I heard the forum server crashed, I thought to myself, 'Wow, what will people do with their time now???' Now that the server is back up, I still ask myself a question: What are most of the people here going to do with themselves when there is no more Y2K stuff to talk about. Yes, there are inumerable glitches that will go unreported, but that's how it works normally anyway. I made VERY modest preparations (water, some extra food of the normal variety, and a cord of wood), but did not take ANY extra money out of the bank (my wife and I use a bank Visa card to shop/survive with anyhow), and guess what? We're all still here. I was also on call as a member of the IT staff at a major corporation for some of the weekend, and we had not glitches reported through the weekend (and through this week so far also). My thoughts are: 1. I am glad that I didn't overreact preparation-wise; 2. I am very glad that we as a society did not panic, as was previously expected; 3. We will be working out minor Y2K glitches for months to come, but none of them will be of the "show stopping" variety, and 4. I am glad to be getting on with other issues at hand, like our efforts to start a family, working on my house, and furthering my IT career. I don't where we are left now, but it sure is good not to be dwelling on it anymore. The shame of it is the perception of some people (like two guys in the elevator yesterday, who said "Y2K?? What a crock of shit that was!!!) who will never know the effort and expense it took to get us all through this!

You people couldn't be more wrong about Y2kpro. I know where he is. High school Christmas break is over and he had to get back to school.

-- Hank (reardon@not.now), January 04, 2000.

Hey, King of Spain, like to broken-glass wrestle?

Now, on to other observations: Why is it that countless threads can be started for no other sake but to Y2KPro-bash?

In a non-censorship air of fairness and true objectiveness, sysops would not allow any discussion of any kind concerning said "banned subject". This thread is venomous. So, why let it stay? Or is this the obvious personal opinions of the sysops who have been so put-upon by "Pro".?

I have bantered with Y2KPro for about a year. I don't agree with him. However, if he is banned from posting, so should any threads ABOUT him/her be banned also since it is not allowed to defend itself.

I am so sure the above postings eluding to Y2KPro's self-gratification is in someway important or meaningful to Y2K discussions.

-- karen (karen@karen.karen), January 04, 2000.

dear karen:

you may disagree with the content of this thread, but at least we are not disrupting the board with extreme amounts of multiple posts that effectively render the board useless for ANY discussion.

This is one of the reasons Y2KPro and others are deleted on sight, NOT because of what they have to say.

there are rules posted at the entrance. you don't like the rules, start your own forum.

Yeah!! Dats da ticket! I couldn't said it betta my self! Thanks for quoting me accurately! Looks like I'm in for a long wait though, huh!

-- Jay Urban (Jayho99@aol.com), January 04, 2000.

Hmmm, a week ago you were all talking about the dire consequences that were in store for us via y2k. When that situation went bust, you've taken to cutting and running, firing pot shots as you retreat.

What is it about this forum's regulars? Do you all--even now--still think alike? Do you agree with the quotable quotes Pro has collected, or do you simply tolerate them? Is the fact that the quotes were made by doomlits enough to build up a defense, much as a fraternity would defend its most consistently drunken brothers?

Jay, you like to post biblical thoughts once in a while...and I am left to wonder if you understand the meaning of the word 'hypocrite'. No doubt, the Good Lord never would have understood individuals wishing death and starvation on their brother man simply to defend a viewpoint.

Badco,
A brief explanation is in order....My reference to Y2K Pro's possible demise was due to the fact that he was posting the same thing over and over throughout the morning, much like someone who has expired while holding down an horn relay and the horn keeps blowing...the effort on my part was a lighthearted (at least I meant it to be) jab at him to unstick the broken record behaviour. The sysops were deleting his posts shortly after they appeared, and if you weren't in the stream of things at the time, the logic flow probably looks disjointed without the missing evidence. I meant him no injury, but perhaps it looks that way to you. I apologize, and truly hope you don't hold hard feelings towards me for it.

Y2K Pro,
I meant what I said back in November, and my feelings haven't changed. This present world reflects the handiwork of God's enemy; the sickness, death, pollution, unrest, hatred, and malevolence we see more and more of are indicators of his toil. When the trumpet sounds and Christ breaks forth into our time/space world again, Jesus Christ is bringing with Him an end to all of this pain and suffering, which will truly be the end of the world as we know it. I am anticipating His return, therefore, and must blend my spiritual yearning with that of the Holy Spirit, and indeed, all of God's creation awaiting redemption in a heartfelt "Even so, Come, Lord Jesus!" Where you feel that is my deathwish for everyone is beyond my comprehension. It is not God's will that any should perish, but that all mught find salvation and eternal life in His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for us that we might be restored to fellowship with Him. And so, we leave it at that for now. I appreciate your regular reposting of my expressed yearning for the return of my Lord and His reign.
