A question about posts:

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I know very little about computers, other than just a little out of textbook. What I am going to ask has not a thing to do with Y2K whatsoever, but I do not know where else to go. I have read with pleaure all the posts here, or a great many of them any how. Some are just a single word, some are a single sentence, a single paragraph, and some are many pages long. Now to get to my problem. I have made several posts. The short ones go through quite simple and fast, the longer ones not so fast. And some when I actuate the submit key, I wait and wait and eventually a "Timed out" message is displayed. I try and retry to submit, and I get the same results. I know that my post is fairly long, however I have seen some on here that are several times longer than mine, but they are still there. This has happened each and every time I have had a fairly long post. Because of this I have not been able to submit my gut feelings. Ok out there, what am I doing wrong? I know it is something, because with my past history, it is always me, I am always wrong, so fellas, what is it? I hope I can get this one out.

I had the same problem with a short post. I hit submit and then waited and waited.....finally just back out and went elsewhere. Came back later, and what to my wondering eyes should appear? My post... --go@figure.com

It takes just the right touch on the submit button. Got to be a firm quick solid snap, but don't hold it down too long or press too lightly. It should come with practice if you keep that in mind.
