it is of course was not contributed to y2k, the city PR flack said it was not because they were not ready. one day outage so far. the news suggested it could be y2k related.

My dad runs a motel in New Braunfels...bout 20 minutes away. I'm from that area...Austin/San Antone... Maybe I'll call him tomorrow.

I would appreciate info/update as well. My parents, cousins, aunts, etc. live near there, but are not in the San Marcos water district itself.

The failure was due to a water main break, and there was no Y2K connection according to utility spokespeople.

Mornin' Folks!

Got a call in to my buddy the WildMan in San Marcos. As soon as I hear back from him, I'll post the reply here(unless of course, he gets my e-mail and posts here his own bad self).

More as the plot sickens...

Peace,

Don

Howdy, folks!

Well, for what it is worth, my buddy John in San Marcos says the water is okay at his house right now.

Pressure is good; no reports of funky junk coming out of the tap.

He also said that there is a tremendous amount of construction/destruction in the area(he's out by Wonder World), and it wouldn't surprise him if someone hit a water main. He also thought the city might actually be intentionally working on the water lines, and as a result shut some of them down.

Hope this helps clarify the situation. Any more reports on this from anyone else? Keep us posted...

Peace,

Don
