1/3/2000 batch runs with nary a glitch, day by day Y2k fades into the history books, Its been fun but......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Well folks this will be my final post to you all. Our 1/3/2000 batches completed with only one Y2k failure, which was remedied in 3 hours. Im comfortable in saying that the severe effects of y2k are a thing of the past.

Its been an interesting, rewarding and at times harrowing experience but one that I think in the end will make us all stronger. I realize its hard to let go of the fear and trepidation weve been building for over two years now, but I would ask you all to consider this. Imagine if everyone on this board put the effort into their day to day lives that they did into Y2k preparations and investigations, just what could we accomplish? What if this were turned into a global warming awareness board? Could you imagine? Its my sincerest hope that all of you can get past the lingering doubt and fear and all have happy and fruitful lives ahead.

Regardless of what side your of this argument you were on I know you were all sincere and it makes me kinda proud to know your all out thier with your passion and determination. Today is a bright new day. With many others ahead of us all

Farewell to you all.

The quality of the answer you recieve is dependent on the quality of the question you ask.

Patience, me thinks you have watched too much television, where the solution to the problem was apparent in the time allotted for the show.

This show will be longer than 72 hours.

I was forced to make a bank deposit today. If the batch processing is done after 4 pm, I am still waiting to see the correct amount deposited into my account. There is some new activity in available balance, but it's not as much as my deposit. I've checked twice and both times different amounts. I'll keep checking of course...gotsta clear the mortgage payment. The last closing date was 12/31/99. BTW..Wells Fargo.

Please keep those market computers up and running, I need to be able to sell my puts after the market crashes (you'll need to keep the system up for about two more weeks).

My credit union's computer was down today. (Resource Conservation Credit Union in Portland OR). They didn't know why, but they knew it wasn't Y2K. They took my deposit manually. Also, my partner works at Nature's Northwest (a natural food store) and the scales went down at the registers. Wasn't fixed for a while. The tech guy said it was definately Y2K. Huh. Bill
