Who Are All These New Handles?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I have lurked, occasionally posted for over a year. Who ARE these completely new handles? Old Git, Rev. Big Dog, Ron, Taz, the rest of you old forum, what do you think of these newbies? I admit, my handle changed every time (to protect the guilty :-p). Who/WHY are these strange handles?

Those would be the Pollys who didn't have the balls to take a stand on Y2K one way or the other, who now feel that it is safe to come out of the closet and become trolls. Kind of like the people who wait until the end of a football game and then say, "I KNEW they would win." In short, they are mindless idiots.

I was having the same thought tonight as I read through the posts. I haven't had much time to research or post as our family is going through a major emotional rollercoaster ride due to illness of DD#2. I, for one, definately do appreciate all the people on this forum keeping information flowing. Thanks to all for the hard work.

And the rest of them are sissy GI's who missed out on the stock market, and never really understood the full scope of Y2K (or duration).

Ole Time:

I've come here to find a relatively honest assessment of the impact of y2k, regionally and globally. I'm not much of a preppy, polly, or doomer, but I do 'get it'. This unfolding event is history in the making, and intellectuallly honest coverage of it is almost impossible to find.

It could occur to someone that this board, and the few others like it, are some of the few outlets in which honest imformation is disseminated. That may draw unwanted attention.

Did someone say new handles?

-- BigDogTheMagnificentOne (BigDog@duffer.com), January 03, 2000.

Alias Dog, you might want to give up you pseudo handle, to the Real Dog, who is attempting to cope with small child with cancer.

-- Real Life (withtears@allour eyes.com), January 03, 2000.

And some of us might have just recently discovered the link to this forum on the CyberspaceOrbit website....thanks Kent!

Quite simply, you need us former lurkers. Accept or reject our contributions at face value, and not by seniority!!!! I've read FOOLS pouring out FOOLISHNESS and folly, here.(at times) Who got there first works for kids playing on the playground.

As for anything of substance, utilize your cerrebellum or shut thy orifice! Nobody has squatter's rights here! If you think you got here first and own this forum, then you are a sad fellow indeed! You need EVERYONE with a suggestion.

REMEMBER: There are very few folks who still can think in this country! So, do not intimidate anyone from posting here. IT MAKES THOSE OF US WHO HAVE BEEN AROUND THIS PLANET AWHILE, VERY ANGRY!--GOT IT?!

ANYONE, YOUNG, OLD, EXPERIENCED OR NOT, POST HERE!

AND DISREGARD THOSE SMALL MICRO-SOULS WHO FEEL THEY OWN SQUATTER'S RIGHTS HERE! I for one want a constant and steady NEW BLOOD!

If you want to play "clubhouse" go see "Howdy Doody"! Else, SILENCE!

Regards,

(yes Daddy). Hey JoeZI. Don't pick on ANY of the remaining regulars who have had the guts to KEEP their handles, stand their ground and continue participating at ANY FRIGGIN' LEVEL that they ever have before. UNDERSTAND??????????????????

Chill out and get a grip. I'll put up with Polly/Troll BS, but NOT with any dissention in the ranks or criticism from the peanut gallery.

GOT IT?

Like I said last month, after WWII every Frenchman claimed to have been active in the Resistance. These are a bunch of "Me-Too"-er's. Like Doctor Jim, telling programmers how badly they misjudged Y2k.

Day 4, people, stay alert. The ship is scraping on the iceberg.

Dear Hawk, You say I'm a mindless idiot because I never posted here before today? How can you say that not knowing my (or anyone else's) situation? Perhaps I just found the board today, perhaps my internet connection has been down and I haven't been able to post, perhaps I got a computer at a New Year's Day sale and just now hooked up with a service provider, perhaps I subscribe to the creed that if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

Instead of taking these things into account, you'd rather assume the worst and call us all "mindless idiots". After all, if we're all idiots and we're the opposite of you, then what does that make you? A genius?

If it makes you feel better about yourself to insult people you know nothing about, then go ahead--apparantly you need all the ego boosts you can get.

-- Mosie (mn_moore@yahoo.com), January 04, 2000.

I rest my case, troll. :-)

Most of us prefer to withhold judgement (about new user id's, about the quality and accuracy of their inputs, and the reliability of their data) until after reading many dozen replies over a long period of time .... why should we make an exception now?

Be patient ..... trust is earned, not given freely without justification. All input is welcomed with true fervor, all trash and garbage discarded with equal enthusiasm.
