Well kids its about time to wrap this show up, or as the carnies say, time to slough. Fold up the tents and head off to the next town. We open next week in Yuma.

What a Long Strange Trip its Been, eh? The last three years have been full of wonderous hype and diatribe on all sides of the "issue". So much wasted time reading and pounding the keys by some of us here. All those man-hours...Its a wonder anything was remediated.

Its kinda like what I do for a living. You see, Mrs Peace-Farmer and I travel from town to town in five Western States going from county faire to county faire offering our wares. (We are purveyors of good scents). And Y2k has been like a county fair. The anticipation, the exictement, the colours, the noise (even the occasional drunken brawl). Only to end rather abruptly. Nothing but hot dog wrappers on the ground and vendors packing up. Single moms with crying kids and guys with metal detectors looking for dropped quarters.

And the next day whe the sun rises, the fairgrounds are empty once again--looking barren and dusty. But if one closes their eyes and listens hard, they can still see the lights and hear the screams...

meanwhile...

Its off to another town. Down another empty highway, trying to calculate the gas and the hours to get there. Off to another town to bring dreams and fulfill fantasies.

As we speak, Y2K is being relegated to the Kahoutek of whatever. The Hale-Bopp of expectations. What happened? Who cares? Some of us, (like me) will have to eat a little crow burger, but so what? In another week, it will be another town and all of you will be lined up to buy another ticket for the ride.

And when you are in that line, look over your shoulder--From where you hear that strange music of the past. It will be Mrs. Big Kahuna and Myself, Big Kahuna (for that is our real names) dancing around our tent, hawking incense and peppermints to all generations.

I don't agree with what you said, but boy do you express yourself beautifully.

Have you ever thought about a career in writing?

It was great having you along for the ride. If you're ever in the neighborhood . . .

Smooth roads to you, Big Kahuna.

Ahaaaa Farmer, the mystic of the Childhood Fair Grounds rings sweet to last me this 53 years. The smells, the food, the lights, the excitement! My most early, fond memory, was a small fair Grounds, set up, with Kiddie rides, I was 5 years old. Whenever I visit that small Georgia town, my memory still sees that carnival set up on that corner. There is really an Electric Company there now, but sweet memory, cannot erase a bright light, carnival, for a wide eyed child, who believed in Santa. By the way, I am sick of my 7-4 office job, do you think I might harbor some talent that I might join your Clan, and lend some delight to a child?

May NEITHER of you put the other's trunk out on the lot.

And may you NEVER have occasion to yell "HEY RUBE"

"The Hale-Bopp of expectations". Love it, great line. Good fortune in your purveying.

The end has past and nothing happened. Thanks to the programmers who added a few bytes to ten thousand programs. Dream of disaster another day.

Frankly, it disappoints me to have such eloquent prose leaving this fair forum. Your "way with words" and thoughts will be missed.

Hope you have second thoughts and stay around to have this play out, so to speak.

Much more will be said and learned, your voice shouldn't be absent.

Gimmeaholler if you ever get out West Michigan way.
