Can he be in a show?

My sister has a beautiful, affectionate and smart maine coon cat. She does not know who the breeder is because she bought him at a pet store. Can he ever be in a cat show?

Sure he can! He could be entered in the household pet class. If he is under 8 months of age he can be shown as a household pet kitten. For cats over 8 months, "adult" household pets must be spayed or neutered to be shown. Suggest you go to a cat association's website where you can look up information on upcoming cat shows in your area. Get in touch with the entry clerk (usually this should be at least 3 weeks before the show date) and he/she can give you information about how to enter, what you will need for the show, and probably assign an experienced exhibitor to you to show you the ropes in the showhall. A couple of associations to start with are The International Cat Association (TICA) at www.tica.org/frames.htm and the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) at www.cfainc.org/
