flea problem

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

I bought a 4 year old Maine Coon in August and brought her into a 4 room condo that never had pets. She supposedly had Advantage on her.She never goes out and I have no other pets. I guess she had a flea and we have a problem. She doesn't have her own bed and sleeps wherever. I have used Advantage on her for 4 months and now I am using Frontline. They don't work and I am all bitten up. I used perimeter spray and bombed each room the day before Xmas. I am getting bitten again. Help!!! Everone says their product works. What should I do I amdesperate. Thanks for any help,Marcia

Please make sure you don't put that poison on your cat. I had put the foam on 2 of my cats, and after awhile they were foaming from their mouths. The can said it was normal, but when I saw them I thought I would die. Go to your veterian and I think they have something you can buy for the rugs and keep vacuming. Good Luck, and I hope you fixed the problem.

When I lived in Los Angeles and had two indoor cats (they were never allowed outside), I developed a flea problem. Not wanting to spray chemicals in my house or put on my loves, I called Flea Busters. They use in insoluble salt on the carpet (completely safe with no poisons). It dehydrates the fleas and other insects. If you see a flea within a year, they will retreat free. I had this done once a year for a few years and never had a flea problem again. This method is completely safe to your pets and family. Similar products are sold in pet stores, but you must read the labels, they sometimes add chemicals. Hope there is a Flea Buster in your area.

We use the Flea Busters to rid our home and yard. We have two very active Chocolate Labs and we live in the Northwest which is a veritable home for the little bugs. Once we began using the Borate powder which is essentially a salt and completely non-toxic (remember Borax soap). It works but the trick is to get your house treated BEFORE the flea season when the start making their cocoons filled with billions of babies. Anyway, we simply have NO fleas now...
