why do we always need someone to blame? (North and Yourden etc)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

After reading several of the last few days threads, it appears that some of you are begining to turn on the very people you based your beliefs upon. All North,Yourden and etc have been doing is offering an alternative view to the party line. Everyone on this forum is obviously disenchanted with the party line and the bullshit that we are constantly fed, myself included on a daily basis. We all yearn for change from our current system, but yet we know that the system is so embedded in peoples lives that it will never be given up volentarily, no matter how much damage is been done to our planet. We all realize that to change the system and save the planet for future generations that teotwawki was our only hope for a better future for mankind. North is not wrong in his basic beliefs and neither are we. IF Y2K PROVES NOT TO BE THE ANSWER WE ALL CRAVE FOR ????? we cannot start to shoot the messangers, as North is looking for a way out of this screwed up system as we all are, maybe we've all just been looking in the wrong place for the way out.

Hey Bob, I gotta disagree with you on this one. Speaking only for myself, I'm not hoping for a Y2K catastrophe. The world is pretty screwy but it always has been. It'd have been way more screwy if these chips started going like popcorn (as a lot of serious technical studies indicated). I prepared because I felt it was the responsible thing to do for my wife and two year old boy.

I understand where you are coming from as i have a beautiful family of my own, but the bigger picture is the future and what will our childrens children be inheriting from us. we need major planatary reform in all areas from the growth of population to recource management. forget about tomorrow think 10-20 years down the road and exrapolate the screwed up mess we are in at present. the human being has five basic needs food, warmth, water.air and love, all of which we used to have absolute control over, but can you honestly say that of todays society, i'm afraid that i cannot as everything in our modern society comes with a price, what will that price be for out future generations. best wishes.

Best wishes to you too, Bob. God Bless. By the way, I was never on TB2000 or any other chat forum until 1999-12-31. What does IMHO mean?

Bob, there is always going to be a percentance of thoes who are looking for a cause to join. When things don't trun out the way they thought, they have to blame someone. You don't think they are going to take responsibility for their own decisions do you? Everyone knew going into this that there were no certanies. I don't want life as we know it to end either, but I also know the only way we are going to save ourselves and this planet is if we are forced in to it. I pray for the evolvement of the planet and its occupants and I except Gods will. Light and Love to you all. Mat

In My Honest Opinion I have been following these forums for over the last year posted rarely yet read everything. The opinions on the y2k situation are so diverse that it makes my head spin yet i trust my own basic beliefs and natural instincts all is not well with the world and all is not well with humanity. I guess all we can do is follow our beliefs and trust our own judgements and try and live a good honest life, although this is becoming increasingly more difficult. ps y2k is far from dead.

BEST WISHES

I do not blame anyone.I also recognize we live in very dangerous times--An Age of Extreme Arrogance.

We live in a time when foolishness masquerades as wisdom and the prudent appear to be fools. (Those who cared little, were uninformed and went their merry way appear to be "the smart ones".Little or no effort earned them this status.)

Then there are the "small people" who have always been around. These are the folks who cannot think for themselves and they ride the coattails of those who can. If they get "led" in the right direction it is because they "hitched" the right ride(in THEIR "infinite" wisdom). If they chose incorrectly, they blame the one who they hitched a ride with. Small people(aka micro-souls) are belligerent, cuss, and are generally a pain. The true reason for this conduct is their awareness of being very small to begin with. They must make a ruckus or risk being overlooked.

I do not hold animosity towards any who attempted to alert and inform me. I also am not so foolish as to think this is the only threat we face. We (America) are like the overconfident and cocky teen who gets drunk and successfully runs every red light in town, bragging to all the following day.

Ed Yourdon and Ed Yardeni and all others get my thanks and respect. My greatest "sin" to friends and family was the "sin" of CARING! I realize that those who see and saw my heart will not diminish in their love towards me; those who cannot see it, have not for some time.

This situation is far from over. There is the inescapeable economic fall-out yet to be experienced. What form this takes will not matter: Whether it is a national recession or depression, a lay-off or worse at your employment, or interest rates ala Pres. Carter's day, etc., your preps will ease the crunch.

And so, do not waste time or energy with dolts who taunt, and friends you really never had. Instead brace yourselves for a really rough year.

Regards,
