How to identify an old brownie

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Brownie Cameras : One Thread

I have an old brownie. Uses 120 film. Has a 1916 patent date inside. It opened ok initially, but now I can't get it open. It seems to be hung up around the winding handle. Can you help?

You need to pull out on the winding knob along with the clasps if it has those. My older brownie has two clasps on the box.....one on top and one on side. If it is a target brownie you have to pull up on front handle pin. Almost all require pulling out on the winder knob.
