E-mailer with incorrect dates - Check yours

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

I have had two e-mailers with the wrong dates. One from North America was on a Mac using Mozilla [?]. This one was lost at the bottom of my queue [I file by incoming date] as it was dated January 1998.

The other was from Singapore on an IBM using Outlook. In the latter case the source indicates the error may have been with the server. In this case it was dated a week ago, Dec. 25, 1999, although the Source indicated it had been sent on Jan 1, 2000.

Last year on January 1 my Claris E-mailer started giving random dates in 1919-1921.

Check to see that you have answered all incoming mail, and if you do not have a tally as Outlook does then check the bottom of your date queue.

I have notified both senders and will post their findings.

Anyone else find these problems? By the way, I am on a Mac 6500 with Outlook Express.

I received an e-mail from Bonaire today that was dated Friday, January 4, 2000. This was from an Outlook to an Outlook through Prodigy. Could it be the Bios is the PC -- the sender's PC is pretty old -- 1991. I wonder what

The Singapore example was a matter of the user setting their date back after some virus problems and to avoid additional problems. They are now advanced again.
