OT. OT. This is going to get me into trouble but...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Lady Logic and I were actually engaged in meaningfull dialogue on a thread below. 'OT: What I want is ... ' Sysops have deleted her input which I found amusing. She was being a real person. I suppose it can't be put back but... In the spirit of the New Year, would you folks PLEASE give her a chance?

Sysops: Keep up the good work...

LL has also been posting on a thread earlier today entitled "please help"

No offense, Michael. BUT GET REAL. LL and her ilk caused a lot of problems on the forum, created tremendous work for the sysops, and disrupted Bok's chat room. If you all want to chat, I suggest you take it off line into your e-mail system.

Lady's Lucidity factor seems to change from day to day even hour to hour. At one moment she is ok to talk to then BONG something triggers her and she is GONZO, If you want to try to talk to her I suggest you go over to the bonkers board She is a regular there, and would love to talk to you.

Michael,

I appreciate your desire to engage in meaningful dialogue. I've tried to do that with LL as well.

It's unfortunate that this has happened but it certainly wasn't done without LL creating problems for herself.

Look throughout these threads and you'll find a lot of optimists and people with counter points of view who still remain and write openly.

LL has been banned and therefore anything she posts will be deleted. It's best to not engage with her here at all because it only invites more action by the Sysop team. Can I suggest perhaps an email dialogue?

Thanks,

Mike aka Stealth Sysop

Michael, I saw how badly LL spammed this board, don't you recall here dozens and dozens of posts, cramming up all the band width with the same message(s) over and over again? She's being punished and should be. I have been one of those that championed the underdog and the cencorship that I've seen on this forum, because I really hate such things. But LL behaviour has proven to be very immature and she's really blown it, many times now. I suggest you exchange your emails privately, I for one no longer can support this person.

Yes they sure did. They sure did. I will remind you that forgiveness is perhaps one of the HARDEST things to find in this world.

I will not quote the scripture which justifys my intent to make peace for there are those who would be offended. Those who would not be offended, know it already.

I checked the link. Her posts were not inappropriate or offensive to me or anyone on that thread. Just an opinion but such as I have I give.

Please, please, we have gotten past enough of the fear to atleast try to let it be a new year, and a new start.

I have been forgiven much, can we not find it in our hearts to try to reconcile these differences and find a bit of peace.

I know that tomorrow may be a bad time. Amoung the other resolutions I have made, I resolve not to say I told you so, if by chance the market tanks... etc. etc.

Well, I see that it is time for me to head for the house. Shalom.

Somebody should give Philip Greenspun a heads up. On the DeBoonkah's today, LL asked for an e-mail addy to start another letter-writing campaign to MIT asking them to unplug this forum. The ever-obliging Doc Paulie posted the info for her. Oh, joy! Now MIT is going to be on the receiving end of the Psycho Spammer from Hades!

Mike,

Beware the Brownshirts. This is not a forum for desenting opinions. sheesh already.

I've read the original thread that started all this nonsense. It was not Ladylogic that started the abusive language and name calling. She over reacted to the obnoxious behavior here.

Her treatment here does not pass the sniff test. That's unfortunately the world we live in today.

Michael Erskine,

I did the same thing a few weeks ago, but I wasn't as nice as you. I yelled at my old friends here, the sysops, for deleting a thread where I was in a talk with LL.

But a few short days later, there was LL, posting the same 7 line headline, over, and over, and over, and over, and...

LL had her chance to engage in civil discussion here. Instead, she deceided to disrupt this forum with kindergarten stunts. I tried to warn her. Many others here also tried to warn her. But she ignored our warnings, and continued with the childish games.

Don't make the same mistake that I did. <:)=

Michael,

You are a kind man. Yet, there are those to whom we extend the hand of friendship who will happily gnaw our fingers off. There are those to whom we extend the hand of forgiveness who will gladly rip our arm off at the elbow. This from one who's been there and tried it. Glad to see you are still aboard. Take very good care.

Michael,
The resulting soliloquy was not an unpleasant read. 8^)

-- David L (bumpkin@dnet.net), January 02, 2000.

You know, this may get me in trouble, too, but LL has had decent discussion with me and she has been a helluva lot more polite to me than some others around here.

-- Jess (alisaunde@aol.com), January 02, 2000.

It should be given back because I never spammed.

That's simply untrue. One occasion, you generated a plethora of posts each consisting of but a single quote (Rita Rudner was one of the persons quoted). How can that not be considered spam. It's like writing a 200 word letter by putting one word on each of 200 sheets.

There have been hundreds of participants on this forum, comprising a remarkable diversity of opinion, yet all but a handful have been able to express themselves without disrupting the forum. I would suggest that some introspection on your part is in order.

Lady Logic is a pathological liar, a manic/depressive and an inconsiderate, selfish piece of smelly garbage. Her posts should be deleted on sight.

-- bo (diddleydaddy@bo.com), January 02, 2000.

Have you ever taken the time to write a long and well thought out post, pleased with its entirety, only to have it deleted 30 seconds after you post it?

Well, I have. It really sucks. It's mean and it's just plain hostile.

In regards to LL posting all those threads, here is my take on it because I was watching while it happened: I really believe this was LL frustrated attempt to get someone's attention when post after post that she wrote was deleted. She obviously knew that whatever she wrote would be gone in matter of seconds. Why should LL let a few bullies run her off? I would stand my ground and fight back just the same. It's a human response. Defense mode.

It's no wonder you think the world is going down the tubes. People just can't get past their differences and get over it.

ok I'm done now

-- cin (cinlooo@aol.com), January 02, 2000.

Ms Mouse:
You seem to be saying that you posted all those jokes in order to get peoples' attention, so that they would see the really important thing you would post next. The problem is that all those joke posts made it harder for people to find your important post, and by the time they got to it, they probably would think it was just another joke. Not only that, the large number of joke posts made everyone else's posts harder to find too. No wonder people want your posts deleted on sight.

It's not necessarily wrong to post humor, but you have to follow the same rules that everyone else is expected to follow. It's best if the humor has something to do with Y2K, technology or people who work with or mess up technology. If you have some jokes like this, you put them in a single post, and you put "Humor" in the title of the post, there is a possibility that it would not be deleted. I would also suggest that you not post too often, perhaps just once or twice a day.

If you follow these suggestions (and note that these suggestions are my own and have not been endorsed by the forum sponsors or by the sysops), it is possible that the sysops will permit your new posts to remain. But understand that your past actions have created a lot of work for them, so be grateful for whatever generosity they extend.
