Best waterproof camera for fly fishing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I need a small, light, waterproof camera that will easily fit in my fly fishing vest. Am considering Canon A1, Canon Elf Sport, and Minolta Weathermatic. Please advise. Thanks.

You might also consider the Pentax 105 WR. It has class 5 weather proofing (Olympus P&S's only have class 3), and although they don't recommend it, you can dunk it in the water for quite a while. I do some whitewater kayaking and since I'm not very good, I frequently swim with mine. Even in class 5 whitewater it always comes up dry. I have a friend who inadvertently left one in the bottom of a creek for several days without harm.

It has a sharp 38-105 zoom that the other waterproof cameras don't have, and it's quite small for a swimmers camera. It's relatively fast for a P&S too. The problem with this one and all the others that I have seen, is the glass front that protects the lens can cause flare when pointed anywhere near the direction of the sun.
