Confession time, who among us pulled the switch at midnight?

I did at a party (west coast), positively hysterical results. I have since been forgiven (I think).

I was monitoring a ham radio repeater frequency and one of the guys there had put into the computer for the repeater to say at midnight "Emergency Power" in computer's voice LOL. So we thought the repeater went down and it went into backup mode.

Was awake early Fri morning (who wasnt) made coffee and turned on ABC. When i heard wife stirring I carried cup in and said "you should have seen the rollover in Sydney......big aerial view of fireworks with huge blocks of city going dark in background." I have NEVER seen her get out of bed so quickly.......and didnt spill one drop. Thank You Lord.......so far.

I did...

I was working at the bank during rollover... all of the people that were there including the CEO, CIO and President of the company were watching the ball drop. I made my way to the back of the room to the light switches...

2... 1... 0... YAY, *honk* *toot*

Then I hit the switches... for about 2 seconds...

I have never seen and heard such a collection of "Oh SHIT!" in my life. I turned them back on and laughed and laughed. Some people gave the the "die" look and the CEO was laughing with me. There were no repercussions and everyone told me how great it was that the ice was broken in that way.

I got to poke some fun at myself as well, as I consider myself a "doomer" though I dislike labels. Still, I warned them that things would play out over the next several days and weeks.

It's curious though.. the very FIRST thing we tested failed. Then people were coming to me when things screwed up and asked if I had done something to it and was playing a joke... a la, the boy who cried "wolf."

I have to admit that I did disconnect some of the breakers in my house. Furnace especially. I also unplugged most appliances in case of power spikes.

Some of the household systems run off the solar system now, so they were there in case they were needed.

Had no power fluctuations, and that suprised me, but I was ready for them.
