IS the ISLAMABAD STOCK CRASH no BIG DEAL???????greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
Having read about the demise to the Islamabad Stock market this morning I havent seen much said about it through out the day.I take it that it must be more of a joke than serious to anyone in anyother markets---Right??
As in no big deal---no dominoes here? Hey--what do I know! Its just a stock market thats attempting to do trades by hand. I guess if they think they can accomplish trades by hand it must be small.
There I answered my own question, sorry to bother. please delete so this Casey guy can have more space.

d, you obviously missed the news that Y2K was no big deal... what's a little stock market glitch in Pakistan anyway? It certainly can't hurt us here in the US, can it???

The crash of Islamabad exchange seems like a rumor. It is the Karachi exchange that is the important one in Pakistan. Further, there are reports here on this site that "Karachi Stock Exchange successfully rolls over into the new millennium"http://www.brecorder.com/story/S0007/S0700/S0700000.htm
There is no mention of any problem of the Islamabad exchange. Could somebody provide a link to the source of the original report?

Anyone with money in the Islamabad exchange probably would not be literate enough to operate a computer....

Sorry.. bad joke there... late and a few too many beers, so don't blow my house up... ok?
-- Carl (clilly@goentre.com), January 02, 2000.
Can anyone of you even name three stocks that are traded on this exchange? (without looking it up)

As I recall, the no-big-deal-Nines last September took out China's stock market for at least a few days.
