Life in Chicago neighborhood

Water main a block from my house exploded. Presently have a trickle and wish I had taken a shower with my hubby this morning before TSHTF. The workers say they will have it fixed in a few hours. Hope to go to sleep with water coursing through the pipes, but I'm not going to hold my breath either. Blue is not my color.

Ouch,

Thats the worst thing I heard yet. Whats the temperature there. Is it weather related or a Y2k Bug. Not that you care really, no water is no water.

Hello

Please forgive my late reply. I had to bug out and take care of some things. I am in Lincoln square here in Chicago. They are working on Lawrence Ave. Weather is great! right around 40 is correct. We haven't been told what happened. But that crew is working hard! Hey!!!!!! My husband just tried the water and it is running. Wooo HOOOO! Please forgive me for doubting them! I guess I don't need all that water I schlepped from my Father-in-laws to flush my toilets. I was lucky to have him though. You can bet I'll have a more well thought out plan of attack should this happen again!!

We had a broken water main about a block from our house Dec.31, DH said it was 'cool, like the Nike commercial' it didn't cause any interruption of sevice for us though...

BTW not to be a 'wet blanket', but it is true that the temperature here was warm, but this was a thaw from much colder temps & from what I understand this is typically when these types of problems occur.
