Do you feel lucky?

I hate to sound like Clint Eastwood, but those of the radically polly persuasion (not those who honestly claimed the issue was over hyped) perhaps should ask themselves;

this issue is behind us (I remain unconvinced of that at this moment), do I really believe the New World is now a perfectly safe place to inhabit? Is the technology going to get more or less complex, with the concomitant result of increased risk of failure? Is the global financial order more or less risky than a week ago? Is my food supply, fuel supply, safe shelter, medical supply, etc, more or less secure today IF the rollover proves to be 100% non-issue?

I look at my Y2K preparations as ASSET REALLOCATION. I am grateful there was a date definite which shook me out of my torpor, and encouraged me to really see how dependent I am on all these lifeline, lifelines which must be supported on a day to day basis. I will never again be so unmindful of that fact.

I now have a beautiful cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains, on a stream, 75% gas run, with emergency solar and wood fired plus food/water etc. for any future crisis. In the year Ive had it, it has already appreciated in value.

Do I feel like an idiot? Of course not, Im lucky I had the warning to put in place what I should have done years ago. Pollys should talk to someone who went through the Great Depression to see how hard life can REALLY be even in this country.

Of course, True Pollys believe it CANT HAPPEN TO ME. They are the ones seen on TV after a fire has burned them out, muttering to themselves.

Ive just had a wonderful breakfast, and Im grateful that most others reading this did too, no matter what their persuasion. Im now better prepared for lifes vicissitudes. But the question I have for the radical polly is... Do you feel lucky?

Yeah, and what did you have for breakfast... MRE's, beans, rice and bottled water?

No of course not... nobody is going to want to eat that junk when there is real food on the supermarket shelves to be eaten.

After all the preps, I am happy to be where we are.....nearer my grown children, well stocked with things we will use. My husband and I were surprised (pleasantly) that power was available after the rollover, so our generator will have to wait to be used fully for some other emergency. But we definitely don't think it is over and will wait out the next few months to see if JIT survives. Our stock market is still so overinflated that I wouldn't participate, tensions are high in foreign countries, terrorists still exist, our government can't be trusted, our fiat monetary system can't hang on for long......all reasons to keep a vigil. Yes, it seems for the moment that life will go on as usual, but have I wasted anything by preparing, NO.....am I sorry for the investment of time and money, NO.....and I more aware than I was 18 months ago, blissfully enjoying life, YES.....all contributing to a happier, more peaceful life.

Thats exactly my point, Mr. Rice. If youve got the good stuff, of course youll eat as always. And if NO food or clean water is available, do you think MREs, beans, rice and bottled water will be welcome?

Of course not, youre a polly, and you subsist on a diet of air sauce and wind pudding...
