I suggest that this forum should be discontinued.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Look at the title of this forum: TimeBOMB 2000. This suggests something explosive, but from where I sit all I can see and hear is a slight wimper.

Here is my prediction. On Monday and Tuesday, the stock market will roar ahead with such gusto that it will probably be the biggest advance of the market in history.

Secondly, the world will continue to go about it's business much like before and nothing will happen on Monday or Tuesday or leap-year day or next year or even next century.

Therefore, this forum should be discontinued, unless you want to change it to something else like Foodbomb2000 or Biobomb2000 or Pokemonbomb2000.

All you doomsayers need to come to grips with the reality and the reality is that life goes on.

Answers

The easiest way to discontinue it is by you not to visit this Forum anymore! Good buy!

-- ... (...@...com), January 01, 2000.

I suggest you leave and stop posting.

See how easy that was?

Bye. It's NOT closing. I believe it was Koskinen who said... "we have miles to go before we can sleep," yesterday on TV by verbal report.

It ain't over, yet. And there are those of us who will continue the research and "after action reports."

Have a "nice" life. Hope the power continues "on" for us all.

Adios, amoeba!

-- Jay Urban (Jayho99@aol.com), January 01, 2000.

If you don't like it then why don't you leave? You were never wanted around here anyway.

-- ferdy (ferd@bubble.com), January 01, 2000.

I say if this one goes so does the debunkers, I mean afterall their sole reason for existence at this point is to ridicule and belittle people, They serve no other purpose any longer. Nothing in a productive manner anyway. Their claim before could have been to try and help and educate people but, their intentions all along were to pint and laugh at others. Even now in the middle of their miserable gloat fest all they do is bring insults. They are truly a worthless example of humankind.

Now let me see, anyone remember who said, "The reports of my death are greatly exagerated." I wish I could. Was it Will Rodgers. Let us not forget the reporting on the election of Truman... Yep the reports of my death are a bit premature or something like that.

To be very crude about it all....unfortuately shit floats to the top!

-- Taz (Tassi123@aol.com), January 01, 2000.

Piss off Bob. Wait til we know more before we start changing names.

-- Gordon (g_gecko_69@hotmail.com), January 01, 2000.

I don't believe the government's $50 million Y2k nerve center has been shut down yet. More problems are going to be reported next week.

-- We'll have to (wait@nd.see), January 01, 2000.

Bob, I could be wrong, but I detect quite a bit of anger in your post. Could it be that you really wish things to be over and you know that they're not?

-- eve (123@4567.com), January 01, 2000.

Are you gone Bob??

You are definitely forgotten!!

THEN GO AWAY!! there are some of us that DONT have the attention span of a child and can actually stick around to see how this all plays out. I am grateful for this board, if it weren't here--we might never see that there were glitches and may still see more to come.

-- tt (cuddluppy@aol.com), January 01, 2000.

Lets not get to smart-a**ed at this point. Not on either side. You debunkers folks need us until you can get the date squared away on your site... It seems to be hosed.

-- Michael Erskine (Osiris@urbanna.net), January 01, 2000.

Bob, you may be excused.....we're staying in class. (I wonder why anyone would visit TB2000 unless they believed.) I certainly wouldn't waste my time in college taking a class which bored me. Bob, you certainly aren't learning anything here. Why not challenge your brain by visiting a site where you can meet like-minded people and discuss something which excites your grey matter ?

My car started the other day... I could only drive it a few miles, then it quit.

Do you suppose dolphins dream? And if they do, do they dream in color?

-- Jay Urban (jayho99@aol.com), January 01, 2000.

I've never gone on this site before, but I'm feeling lazy today adn Y2K is in my mind, so I'm looking here. I agree with you. Life goes on. We've been watching with amazement the hysteria, the way so many people seem to WANT a catastrophe, I guess to give meaning to their own lives. Today I'm getting some amusement reading this stuff, tomorrow, onward. You have the right attitude, let's not waste our time with the doomsayers.

-- Desha Shepherd (jimdesha@bellatlantic.net), January 01, 2000.

Wow, did I hit a nerve or what!

Can't you all see that all the reasoning on this forum for months has been mostly sophistry.

I can see why all of you doom and gloomers feel, but c'mon folks, find something else to worry about becaause in a couple of months Y2NOSHOW will all be in the past.

To be honest, I was once a true believer, but I am now free of all this bunker mentallity(sp).

To be fair, I am glad that the issue was brought up in the last two years because it was needed. But, all I am saying is let's move on.

-- bob (wilson@concentric.net), January 01, 2000.

bob,

you just go ahead and "move on" if you'd like...exercise that free will of yours, you know, the one that makes you change from a "true believer" to whatever you now define yourself as...just don't bother to look behind you to see if we are following you out of our "bunker mentality" because, and I feel I can speak for at least SOME of us here, WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK OR DO!

Ciao!

-- Ludi (ludi@rollin.com), January 01, 2000.

Michael, the quote was by Mark Twain.

Why are you folks so thin-skinned about Bob's post? Lighten up!

-- gilda (jess@listbot.com), January 01, 2000.

Somehow Bob and all his polly pals seem to view Y2K the way many view today's football games. It is an unfortunate American trait to see things and try to relate to a score.

So let's do that for Y2K. The "no problemo" side managed to take the opening kickoff and drive for the first score. Now the Pollies are screaming "We're number one!" and "Game over!" to taunt the side which sees problems coming. Many in the crowd have gotten so involved in the shouting match between the adherents on both sides that they are failing to pay attention to events on the field.

Meanwhile regardless of all the yelling and screaming, the contest still continues with many days left for events to occur before the outcome can be declared with any certainty.

Well the forum name can't be changed, only removed. A forum would have to be started with a new name. It is just the way Phils system works.

-- Brian (imager@home.com), January 01, 2000.

Bob, I am with you man. All these doomsday supporters have tried to brainwash people's mind into believing something that did not happen. Now they still want to hide behind their wall of ignorance and deny that they've been had by y2k.

Reality check, people!

The world of Logic HAS WON and that I consider is a reason enough to Stop saying Timebomb2000 and start saying, TimeBomb-10billions in 2050.
