The Fat Lady hasn't even warmed up, but the fact that

we have had no terrorism, nuclear melt downs and the lights are on has to give us all a chance to take a deep breath and relax those shoulder muscles. We are in for a long haul of 'stuff', some serious and some just a pain in the ass. What and how bad will be dependent upon where you are and where you have been. If you have some cash and you are prepped, you will do ok. If you have taken advantage of this y2k situation and made a total life style change, you will be in fat city. If you are dependent upon the banks working, the USDA in conjunction with your State getting out the welfare checks and food stamps, you could be in a world of hurt. Those of you who have made a change in lifestyle and like it, will be forever independent,... both physcially and mentally. If you are out of debt and can survive on your own land using your own hands and brain, you will have a sense of freedom that you have never had before. I am optomistic now that we will not have TEOTWAWKI. The world is not going out with a bang....but that 'whimper' could still be a real bitch. I still agree with Ed...a year of hell and a decade of economic hell. But the bright surprise in my life this day is that my PC (even tho Compaq said it would crash) came through just fine. Date rolled over and all systems working as well as before. God Bless us all.

Taz, thank you for this post. Couldn't agree with you more. Even in my late years, this has been a great "wake up" call for personal independence.

No matter what, I hoped nothing BIG would happen, as I am too old to be without water, elec., and have to fend for the basics. Although, we're indeed, not out of the woods yet.

Thank you Taz. You always have such a wonderful way of putting things into perspective. I appreciate your opinions very much and have learned a lot from reading them. God Bless you and Happy New Year !!!

A friend called to wish us Happy New Year and asked if I was disappointed. DISAPPOINTED??? In What? Because of our y2k focus we are out of debt, have two new vehicles - no payments - have lots of food, new skills and most of all new priorities. Where is the negative in that? I know we have trouble ahead - I see it coming. I'm just ready now - for whatever. Oh yeah, I'm soooooo disappointed!!!
