I've worked in the IT field for 10+ years. People in my field deal with computer problems ALL the time. Many of us are exhausted from spending so much time preparing and testing for the Y2K rollover.

I do not believe we will see any major problems when businesses open. At my place of business, ALL the systems were tested out via rollforward (we set the computers to a date in 2000) and any bugs that were uncovered were fixed. We've become adept at fixing problems.

This weekend all departments are required to test their systems so when business resumes there will be no surprises. I suspect this is the same at other places.

Relax and enjoy this new year!! Thank any IT people you may know for all the time they have put in ensuring Y2K was a non-event. If there are major problems they will be caused by people (terrorists, hackers) not by any Y2K bug.
