Critical Utilities Ready, Los Angeles, CA.

Critical utilties in this county report they are 100% ready, with very few exceptions. All the following links are found from DWP's Y2K "bump in the road" or it's Utility links page. By "ready" here we mean the organization reports it's mission critical systems are ready for use with 2000 dates.

The only public impact indicated may be to bus & rail commuting.

LA County Government - 100% ready. All 987 systems.

LA City Goverment - 100% ready. Some vendors have unknown status.

LA Department of Water and Power - 100% www.ladwp.com

Southern California Edison - 100% ready

Southern California Gas Company - 100% ready

Metropolitan Water District - 100% ready (October 1999)

Sanitation Districts of LA County - Remediation and Testing in progress.... "All of the various Districts' facilities are capable of manual operation. All critical facilities will be fully staffed on New Years Eve in case manual operations is necessary.... The Districts fully intend to be capable of providing service to its customers without interruption beyond the year 2000. Metropolitan Transit Authority - www.mta.net. "The MTA is the major operator of bus and rail service in Los Angeles County". Under Corporate Info it reports, "The non-compliant systems have been reviewed and prioritized and repair work is well underway. Currently, it is anticipated that all mission critical software systems will be repaired, tested and returned to production prior to the project impact dates for each of the systems however, a few of the major systems will not be compliant until late 1999."

Pacific Bell Telephone - 100% ready

GTE Telephone - 100% fixed, not all certified ready.
