Sigh of Relief

I'm starting to breathe a HUGE sigh of relief. Am very glad I prepared...I would not have taken a chance on going thirsty, cold or hungry for anything. (I've been there--never again!)

Now I can use my grocery money to pay off bills and build the greenhouse I've always wanted! And if the economy does take a downturn, once again, I am prepared. It is such a secure feeling.

Sher: Considering the fact that the new year hasn't hit most of Asia, all of Europe and all of the U.S., don't you think it's a bit early to be feeling relieved?

Yes, sigh a bit, but remember that problems will be with us for quite some time and the Y2k rollover may be creating problems behind the scenes. It's a holiday. Air travel has been lightened, systems are not running at full capacity...

Bottom line is that we wont really know for some time exactly how this will play out.

I've am relieved thusfar but not over confident.

Good job, Sher.

Like Mike Taylor, I'm relieved thus far, but I'm INCREASINGLY confident.

Mike Taylor has struck the appropriate balance on this issue, IMHO. Lets not declare victory until the days over, at least! No one seems to remember that the areas reporting in so far are, while dependant on computers, not as heavily interspersed through all levels of the economy, as we are in America. Everyone knows the more complex the system, the greater possibility of malfunction. I too am relived so far, but I really do think a rush to judgement on an issue of global magnitude and complexity is not logical at this time...

Please don't misunderstand my optimism. I still expect serious problems with the economy. My relief is that, barring terrorism, we will probably not have any major infrastructure crashes, which means that we will be better able to deal with the inevitable problems that occur.
