CNN has stayed with the new year celebrations for 20 minutes, just before new year they said the dimmed the lights, because they went off in the square. then left...seems they should have stayed at japan longer..news was scrambling to go to next spot..anyone else think this odd

Nah, no problems there I think. I watched it on ABC and it looked good; they stayed with it for estimated 5 minutes; only problems were with occasional digital glitch in the broadcast, I'm guessing that was NOT Y2K related...either normal glitch or at worst sun flare effects.
