Connection refused:

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I wonder if any of you are having this problem. Just about each time I click on one the articles listed on the board, I get a "Connection refused" message. Then when I re click the article again it comes on the screen out ok. Comments. I get the articles ok, but I have to go thru the connection refused. This does not happen all the time. But it does happen a lot, even when I try to reply.

The board is suffering from heavy traffic.

I've gotten it. I think the board is just a wee bit busy today (gee, I wonder why?).

Yes, I am getting the "cannot connect" message about 70-80% of the time. Sometimes it takes 5 to 10 attempts to view a posting.

The reason you're getting connection refused is because people keep posting totally unrelated stupid threads about rumors and things like the connection being refused.

No. Hawk.

The reason is the new server is still being tweaked.

Diane, you've got to admit that the number of new threads is causing a lot more requests to hit the server than if the same subject were kept on one thread. The pollies are hitting at full force, and the more different threads they can hit, the harder it will be to stop them. If you want to let everyone post every little thing that comes to mind that's up to you, but I was just trying to help, sorry.

Hawk,

The bots are still active. Phil is working on that. I'd much prefer news being posted, myself. Don't consider that inappropriate.

(Trolls are being deleted... per usual).
