Confirm Unsubtantiated Rumors With Sysops ....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Either Diane ("Diane J. Squire" ), Chuck (Chuck Rienzo ) or myself (hey, I am the sysop of the Prep Forum) are a good source for confirming WHO you are, WHO you work for and WHAT your credentials are type-or-stuff over the next few days if you have unusual events to report.

These events could include what is happening in your community and/or place of employment.

If your bona fides are persuasive, we will say so and will not post personal data of any kind beyond what YOU request.

Communications will be kept completely confidential.

Otherwise, forum regulars are urged to be appropriately skeptical of "inside reports" and be especially careful about transmitting rumor around the Net.

Figure I should let Diane and Chuck post their own emails ;-) ...

Thanks Big Dog...

I was hoping some SYSOPS would post to this effect... Familyman, if valid would be significant news but we've no way of knowing up or down right now.

Now another report pops in via email from Switzerland...again leading us to wonder... NBC reporting all is hunkey dory... having worked in the media I can tell you there is such a thing as "bias" in news reporting nowadays and its a lot worse than 5 or 10 yrs ago. Folks take even the prelim mainstream folks initial reports with a grain of salt... no matter which way the news is reported... positive polly blather or negative doomer blather from a network TV/radio reporter doesn't make it true even or especially when its "live".

BigDog, I've often pondered this thought: How can you work full time and yet have so much time to monitor the Prep Forum and perform all your other duties and preps? How many hours of shuteye does a busy sysop get?
