***The Eve is Now Upon Us***

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

As I watched the hour roll past midnight, the reality of things have inched down to the last few hours of the wait. The unknown can soon become the known and the long anticipated time will soon shed it's fate upon us all, whatever that may be.

As we all watch these last hours before the roll tick by, many thoughts will pass. It is tough to think, in light of all the possibilities and the preparations of the world as a whole (most it seems in the last few days), that nothing of consequence will happen. Hopefully, we can collectively get through this with minimum collateral damage to our lives. I still remain confident of this.

I now post my thanks to all who have contributed to this forum and have helped me understand the possible implications of the change that soon comes. I do this tonight because in all honesty, I (may) not have the chance later. Communications may "burp", my ISP may go down as precaution, or whatever. Today holds many uncertainties for many of us. So, here it is.

Thanks again everyone, and I hope that we can continue, without interruption, to post to this forum and actually sit back and giggle about all of this later. After all, we have only been prudent and no harm was incurred. "It's not paranoia if they really are after you" (LOL).

I will post with you as long as I can tomorrow and am looking forward to seeing your posts of update info. as this beast rolls through the time zones. It will indeed be a long week even after the 1st but, we have made it this far.

Best of luck to everyone and special thanks to MIT and Phil Greenspun/Ed Yourdan and the forum sysops. You have provided an invaluable service to your community and the world.
