Do you have any travel tips for a family of five staying at Walt Disney World in Feb 2000? I don't know what is appro to take as the Florida weather is up and down! Thanks

Hi Elaine;

I have to apologize for not having gotten back to you before your trip! I just went to WDW at the end of April myself, and I think I've finally recovered. Whew! I do hope you had a chance to see some of the great WDW information Web sites out there, like Deb Wills' WDW Information Guide at http://www.wdwig.com, and Brian Bennett's site at http://hometown.aol.com/DVClubber/dvchome.htm.

My general rule of thumb is layer-layer-layer! Also for WDW, I am very insistent that everybody wear baseball caps and an overshirt. Outside of a heavy downpour layering will allow you to tolerate those weather variations nicely. You can always buy those cheesy in-park raincoats (try folding them back into your pouch, though!), or better yet, take big ol' Hefty garbage bags and wear them!

You will also be happy to know that a fellow Disney park fan and I are in the process of putting together a nifty little Web site devoted to surviving an Orlando trip. It will point to my Travelite site as well as the park-related sites, but with this new site we plan on providing the core information about dealing with the heat, sun, and varying weather conditions and how to survive it all by being properly decked out. If you haven't yet, please sign up for the "Packing List," my monthly travel tips and announcements email list. I will be sending out an announcement when the other site is ready to launch.

Hope you had a wonderful trip!

Oh goodness, did I say BASEBALL CAPS? Yes, baseball caps work, but I meant hats in general. Baseball caps are easier to take off and put in your pocket/bag, but it's actually better to have a wide brim all the way around.

I think I need to grab a cup of coffee so I can pay attention to what I'm typing! :>
