KMart in Atwater, Ca

My mom called tonight from California, asking what I had sent her in the Y2k prep package. She couldn't find the handcrank radio. She works at KMart and said that they sold cases upon cases of bottled water today. People had their carts piled 10 and 12 high, but there was a limit of 6 per person. I believe they were sold out by the end of the day.

I am really amazed with how quiet east central Florida is. Was at a supermarket and Walmart tonight. The sheeple here are oblivious to Y2K. Stores shelves stocked full and some overflowing.

NEw York City .......

Believe it or not, theres no panic here to speak of. City seems more concerned about terrorism, they welded the the manhole covers shut in times square and took away all the garbage cans (which seemed pretty bizarre to me.

Anyway, a last minute food trip to the Costco this evening was a bit hairy. No toilet paper, paper towels etc, I never thought Id see the day costco ran out of TP. No one was buying the lofat parmelat tho, they had that stuff stacked to the roof. :) See even impending disaster doesnt overwhelm peoples sensibilities.

What I was bummed about tho was they were out of D batteries and 1 pound cans of propane, which are two of the things I still need some of.
