New name for all people that are just now getting it.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

This from the y2k-wrp list. Poster named Cindy came out with a new acronym for people that are just now getting it. Since they really DO NOT get it.

Let's call them OMG from now on. for OH MY GOD...

Several other people and I agree that this would be a great discription for them.

Blessings...

Just had a conversation with a DGI who's been politely snickering for a year. She asked if I was ready for the Big Midnight, and I told her I hoped for a quiet weekend. She said "so no problem, right?" and I said we'd have an estimate for THAT answer around mid-March, because that's when the cover-ups and degraded databases would finally bring down the first wave of bankruptcies. I expected we'd have a pretty complete picture of the risks by June, and they'd play out over the next year.

Wow, it was instant GI, whole face changed. All this snickering, and now the pieces suddenly connected. No problem, still got 33 hours to prep.

Yeh, I saw lots of them today, it was fun watching the herd pushing their overflowing carts into one another. I was giggling at the expressions on people's faces when they went to reach for propane cylinders and water and the shelf was bare. I figure I could probably make some big time bucks in a couple more days, but I'll hold out a little while longer and go for the gold.

A name for those who finally see that it didn't turn out as bad as they thought it would: Got-over-it.

Fortunatly most people who were GI's GOI soon after.

GI = Gets It

JIT = Just In Time

JGIIT = Just Getting It In Time

Yes, I got quite a chuckle out of watching people run around nuts at the store with cart overflowing..but at least they were doing something. Today was normal grocery shopping day so I just had a lot of fun going for the items that they weren't too interested in. Chips, Cookies, candy...a few good deals on staples...etc etc. Tomorrow should be pretty interesting.

As long as they prepare, I don't care.

Whatever we call them, they're practicing JITJIC (Just In Time Just In Case)

Actually Cindy said: OMG - Oh My God - maybe those whackos were right! Pram

-- Pramada (pram108@yahoo.com), December 30, 1999.

The biggest response around here where I live is - "you don't really believe in all that stuff, do you?" DUH! So there aren't even very many OMG's yet. Maybe a few more WMJIC's - "well maybe - just in case". I wouldn't even dare tell them I also believe in weather wars and the ability of "someone" to make holographs appear in the sky - say - that look like - you know TBGITS.

JITGIT - sounds a little better...more alliterative than GITJIT.

Of course, either is better than the GOTJA.
