Opinion on Beseler67?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

I'm having trouble finding an enlarger in my area. There's a Beseler67 up for sale. Before I buy it, I'd like some feedback on its reputation, performance, etc.

Thanks!

I have used a Beseler 67 with a dichroic color head for 15 years, and it has been a very good enlarger. My only complaint is that it has no adjustments for aligning film plane with image plane, but I have managed to work around this difficulty. I think some of the later models may have corrected this omission. I plan to use this enlarger for many years to come.

Hi Amanda I don't use a Beseler 67 and can't give you first hand info. However, if you will go to photo net (http://photo.net/photo/), click on "Original Q & A" then scroll to the bottom and enter "Beseler 67" in the full text search you can find considerable information. I worry about used enlargers that can't be aligned although I used one (Omega) for several years with good results. (I would also be inclined give edbuffalo's opinion considerable weight.)

Good Luck
