Forum problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

For those of you who are not aware, the TimeBomb 2000 forum has been shut down - this time apparently permanently. It was back up and running for a few minutes tonight, then was promptly shutdown again when robot archiving of all 200,000+ messages started.

Should this forum be shutdown, for whatever reason, you are cordially invited to the EnergyLand Transition Monitoring Bulletin Board. It's a bit more cumbersome to use than this software, but setting it up was one of my "contingencies".

Please take a moment to log in and bookmark the new bulletin board, just in case.

One more thing - I'm posting this in three separate threads - the problems experienced at TB2000 are the reasons that a) I locked down this forum with a password quite a few months ago, and b) the reason that I quit providing passwords on December 15.

PLEASE! No matter how hard someone begs you, please don't give out your password to anyone else. I realize some folks from TB2000 are now looking for an alternate home, but you just don't know who's who, if you know what I mean.

Didn't North promote that robotic search/archiving tool on his website? Ironic, ain't it? It looks as though the assorted TB 2000 fora were shut down not by malicious intruders but by a few well-meaning (albeit unthinking) folks who decided at the last moment that they wanted a personal record of everything.

Rick,

Some time back I saw a request on TB2000 for the password for this forum. The response was immediate. The reply stated that your password was ******. Since I try to be as honest as possible, I just had to jump in there and correct that to **********. Hope I didn't cause you any problems.

Please email me at critt@critt.com and give me a step-by-step of what you're doing.
