Alternate TB2000site was OK, now down like original site

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

Thanks Rick for the link to the alternate TB2000 site. I looked through a few posts/answers and answered the roll call. Then went over to the Humpty Dumpty y2K site and looked through the roll call thread....now BOTH SITES ARE DOWN WITH THE MESSAGE supposedly from Phil G. that is on the original MIT TB2000 forum.

What gives????? Anyone know???? TPTB want to snuff out all independent discussions/sightings/news reportings???

Jeanne,

There's a very efficient spider search tool (robot) that may be the culprit. Whether it is malicious act or a boo-boo of grand proportions, i don't know.

I'm sure the truth will out once Phil figures it out.

Thanks Critt! You have always appeared to be much more on top of things computer-wise that I ever could be-in my present life. My real e is: cbrown@sonetcom.com. Please add that to your address book and let me know where everyone has moved, when and if you know. Thanks loads!! I note that this site is also a "greenspun" site and just wonder how long it will be "up"!

One more thing - I'm posting this in three separate threads - the problems experienced at TB2000 are the reasons that a) I locked down this forum with a password quite a few months ago, and b) the reason that I quit providing passwords on December 15.

PLEASE! No matter how hard someone begs you, please don't give out your password to anyone else. I realize some folks from TB2000 are now looking for an alternate home, but you just don't know who's who, if you know what I mean.
