My schedule for the next few days

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Electric Utilities and Y2K : One Thread

Here's a brief rundown of what I'll be up to for the next few days. Please note that everything is in a state of flux right now, so don't hold me to this stuff. I expected to be on MSNBC at 9PM tonight, but got pre-empted by John Koskenin. :-)

12/30: I'm currently scheduled be on MSNBC tomorrow during the 9AM segment, between 12noon and 1PM, and during the Nightly News with Brian Williams at 9PM (all times EST - Nightly News replays one hour later on CNBC).

12/31: MSNBC begins coverage at 4:30AM. I'm scheduled to be on at various times througout the day. I expect things will really heat up around the time that New Zealand rolls into the New Year, which is 7AM EST (if I'm not mistaken). We'll be receiving reports from around the world, and I've integrated the network of contacts we've established with what MSNBC is doing. I'll be posting regular updates as I learn stuff to the new transition monitoring bulletin board.

1/1: I'll be in the studios at MSNBC as long as necessary. Barring any major catastrophes, they plan to end coverage at 2PM, but barring any major catastrophes, I expect to be out of there long before then.

After all of this, I'll be taking a day or two to decompress, and will return here with a poste mortem. Of course, everything above presupposes that Y2k problems will be manageable, and that something else nefarious hasn't happened.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Fingers and toes in crossed position! Thanks for your heroic efforts, Rick, in keeping us informed. Best of luck during the next week, especially, and all the best to you in the New Year!

Rick,

Good luck during the next few days. Make sure you get some sleep breaks in there too. Oh, and you might want to take along a little analog voltmeter and amp-probe, just in case. You never know what just might "save the day" while all the others are running around in a tizzy. Uhhh, and a jumper wire too so you can flash the field if you have to. ;-)
