I was in contact with an engineer with our water authorities (oh, BTW everything is fine we have gravity fed water, yeah right (I asked where will the water go after it leaves the tap and there is no power, just to provoke a thought on the other end of the phone)), anyway she (the engineer) gave a very usefull tidbit. There are 40 gallons of drinkable water in the average hot water tank. Just drain as needed from the outlet (tap) at the bottom. Let the first lot go to clear any "muck" at the bottom and then it should be fine.

Tell the DWI's not to splurge however.

I guess if they are resorting to drinking straight from the hot water tank then they aren't DGI's anymore huh?
