Here, my friends, LIES THE ANSWER---{{{ Author--Thinman}}}

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Rollover/Back-Up Forum : One Thread

I just finished reading a comment by Thinman on another thread. This sums up the Y2K apathy by "joe-sixpack. It's probably the best comment I have ever seen on this forum.

"I think a lot of the public apathy begins with a basic lack of interest in reading, watching or listening to serious news. For all of the spinning and journalistic sloppiness, there's been enough information out there if people would only pay attention.

Yep. A friend told me just yesterday "I don't believe in y2k," as though it were the Tooth Fairy.

That's almost as scarey as the Infomagic scenario. Plus I really hate the feeling that I'm surrounded by idiots.

I agree. Yesterday I was watching a local news channel that was at the time reporting on Y2K. You know, have some water just in case, flashlight batteries, bla, bla, bla. The phone rang and it was my mother in law who was watching the same channel. She told me to "quick turn on channel 5 news". I thought she was going to tell me that they had some news concerning Y2k on TV.

Nope, she was calling to tell me that they had a recall on the Pokemon balls they had been giving out at Burger King and I needed to watch the news to see if they were going to maybe give out some other toys to replace the ones they were recalling. (Like my son would give up the damn things anyway). I told her that we had been using them to store rice in. Got her off my back real quick, first time in 13 years

~***~ (How do you pronounce that, anyway?),

"I told her that we had been using them to store rice in. Got her off my back real quick, first time in 13 years." ROFLMAO!!
