Is Click! Disks preformatted for the IBM-compatible?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Well... the subject is pretty much what I want to know... I've read all about Click! and the problem people seems to have doesn't reach me... I use CompactFlash (1 card 8mb and 1 card 32mb). The 32mb problem is on the SmartMedia... so... I just want to know if I need to format the disks before using them (I use PC)... I bought one and I will pick it up at my trip, and I'm not sure if I will have access to a computer there... so the info would be helpful so I can ask the person is buying it for me to format he disks Thanks!

The Clik disks come formatted. I have used 16M Smartmedia but have heard that there were problems reading the larger sizes. An email I sent to Iomega support in September '99 came back,

"I understand you want to know if your Clik will work with 32MG Smart Media cards. Currently, the Clik drive will not work with the 32MG cards. I do not know if they ever will. I wish I had more information for you."

Please let me know if you find that this has changed.

Regards,

Matt
