SYSOPS, A statement to Lady Logic, if you please

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Dear Ms/Mr Logic, what a tecko-geek you must be, I flounder if my computer doesn't come up to exactly the same screen as I left yesterday. I have lurked here, a long time, read the full gambit, I have died a thousand deaths from imagination and memory. I have also laughed so hard, I had tears in my eyes, and my sides hurt from the posts on this forum. Some people make decisions, regardless of what they see on the tee vee, and the Internet, and we live with these decisions. Prior to my exposure to this forum, we had a power outage of five hours in the a.m. I HAD to have my coffee! No problem, only alternative was gas grill, it took 45 MINUTES to perk that coffee, I was WIRED by then. Thanks to the information here, I now have three alternatives to perking coffee and food. I won't even mention the solar oven. And how about the winter of the south, 10 years ago, 17 degrees, without electricity for 18 hours. Only a lousy, but very pretty fireplace in our new subdivision home. Fireplace mostly for looks. And how about the times water went off, and I in my absent mindness kept turning the spigot on, DUH! So how about the other times the electricity went out, and I automatically flipped a light switch, like it was going to come on? Hoarding food? No, just "Forwarding Inventory". Have I lent to the brokering of the economy with my preparations? Not unless the economy depends on rice, beans and juice for the kids, oh, I forgot pasta and salmom, no caviar here. Person friend, your life might be lighter if you read some of the old humorous posts, maybe you too, would start ROTFLMAO.

No offense, but please don't talk to it. There is no talking to it. It is deleted on sight, anyway.

Jeez,

This might be an effective statement if you were talking to someone who wasn't a mental patient. You must understand that many, many others have tried reasoning with her, comforting her, and even befriending her. It doesn't help, Jeez, because she's seriously disturbed. It would be a little like trying to appeal to Geoffrey Dahmer's humanity and compassion to convince him that it's wrong to kill people and eat them. He knew his heinous acts were considered "wrong", yet he committed them...just because. He couldn't have told you why. We're dealing with something very similar here. I'm really sorry, Jeez.
