What is in your bug out bag?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

If you have already bugged out, or are planning to (assume for this thread that you will be able to when the time comes), what are you packing? I plan on checking and re-packing our bags very soon, one for each family member (plus a "72 hour kit"), and wanted to see if you had any good ideas of things that should be packed that I may have missed. Mostly we have packed clothing and personal items.

Certainly what you pack will be partially determined by where you are expecting to go. Therefore, it would be helpful if you post that you are packing (for example) to join friends/family in a different area, or for going to an emergency shelter, or camping out, etc.

Thanks Excop. I forgot about the field guides (duh).

If you think you'll experience TEOTWAWKI, then include a portable water filter. If you are more optimistic, then include the aforementioned. It is excellent insurance against contaminated water.
