Way, way OT: For Monty Python fans

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I know from hanging out here over the past 12 months that there are at least a few Monty Python fans in TB2000-Land.

I thought I would have a little contest to give away a couple of Monty Python Year 2000 Calendars that I have spare from my Christmas gift-buying expeditions. It's gonna be a little surreal here over the next few days, so I thought a contest that has as its prize a calendar from those prized surrealists would be fitting.

The contest is very simple: e-mail me with the best joke you've heard over the holiday season. Only criterion is that it has to be "clean" enough to be re-posted on TB2000 if it wins. It does not have to be Y2K-related joke. In fact, given that we've all had Y2K on the brain for far too long, it is best if the joke has nothing to do with Y2K at all.

Contest closes at 11.59 PM EST on 31 December 1999, and all entries will be judged by me, my friend Eric (the half-a-bee) and Arthur Pewtey.

Submitters of the funniest two jokes will each receive a brand-new Monty Python Year 2000 calendar. [Just send a valid e-mail address with your entry. Winners will be notified by e-mail.] I will post the winning entries sometime over the New Year's weekend, as well as the "honourable mentions".

[Remember: please e-mail me, rather than posting on this thread. Gotta save band-width for the real Y2K stuff... Also, make sure your return e-mail address is valid.]

Thanks,

Johnny

[PS - do Monty Python know something about how things are going to be in January? The first month of their calendar has the lyrics to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life]
