Excuse me, but aren't you counting your chickens before they hatch? At least wait until Jan 1-7 before feeding us this line. You just never know who may have the last laugh. BTW have you read RC's 3 part report on oil. Post something to refute it if you have.

Why do pollies obsess with dates?

Predictions are just like weather forecasts

The signs are everywhere NOW that troops are gathering, roads are being prepared to be blocked, the actual date is not important but it is very close...

Funny, I don't recall mention of anyone holding a gun to YOUR head.

Diane,

You are correct. Everyone needs to assess their own potential risk, and form individual safety plans. This has been stressed from Day 1.

"If that were the case then I would have never have heard of doombrooders, naysayers, and TEOTWAWKI."

I believe Diane's point was that you are responsible for your actions. If you researched several sources to plan for your family, then terrific. To suggest that the mention of TEOTWAWKI in some magical way actually forces persons against their will to stockpile or take any precautions is assinine and unsubstantiate in national buying trends.

"No, the fear and lies perpetuate the fear and lies, and these assholes don't/can't/won't be held responsible for spreading that fear, uncertainty, and doubt that has brought this world into a state of perpetual anxiety as we approach the New Year. "

You consider them as being much more powerful then they in fact are. If you have been dim witted enough to react emotionally without doing independent research in your region, which is the only logical explanation I can surmise for your attitude, Then you have no one to blame but yourself.

You would have been just as likely to react in kind to the .gov terrorism warnings, or any other alert regardless of the source.

Kosky said it best: In America, you have the right to fail. This means everyone has the freedom to construct their behavior, regardless of other's suggestions.

Can you clarify --.

(BTW get a name at least, -- is little hokey)

Diane:

"PEOPLE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN DECISIONS AND ACTIONS. PREDICTI0NS DON'T MAKE PEOPLE ACT". I seldom disagree with you, but to be internally consistant with other statements from the forum this should read; people should be responsible for their own decisions and actions, preditions don't make people act. Otherwise how could it be argued that predictions from government officials and industry lead people not to take Y2k seriously. Man, I am starting to sound like Flint. I'm going to sleep.

Best wishes,,,

People are free to do what they wish in response to the government's predictions about Y2K.
