HVAC Failure

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

A few threads back (what is now several hours) I posted a quick note concerning a HVAC failure. I apologize for the manner in which I posted this message. I assure you I am not a troll. I work for a major east coast food company (sorry that's all I can tell you). Around 1:30 (13:30) this afternoon the main Research office experienced a HVAC failure, this affects only a limited portion of the plant. I reported this in a hurry because we had to leave the office due to excessive heat (+92 and rising fast when I left). At this point the SAR team has still not determined the nature of the failure. Hopefully tomorrow when I return I can get some info. I do know that certain areas of the plant were doing testing (that's the reason for the hurried post before). Thanks for listening

Ps - While the name I use may seem sort of derogatory, I picked it one day after reading some humorous posts on the forum. I am a member of a global Y2K remediation team and take this very seriously. I also post under 2 other serious names on this forum.

Couple of posters on related threads say they are expecting World Wide HVAC failures at Midnight 12-31.

We'll see.

OK folks. Those of you who don't take embedded systems failures seriously, think about what the results would be if this failure was occurring in a hospital of geriatric care facility.

Healthy workers in an office can walk out. This would be a serious evacuation event in the other two instances. I'm afraid we'll see such events in the news over the following days.
