Cash Machine refueses to give me $ I ask for, oh wellgreenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
I went to my local Bank of America today, the same one I go to on a very regular basis, to get some cash from the ATM. I put in my request for $160, and the machine responded, "Cash Requested Excessive, try a smaller amount." So I asked for $140 (my regular withdrawal amount) and bingo transaction approved, here your cash.Very odd.
Has anyone else had this experiance?

It happened to me too!! I tried entering $200 and the machine responded, "Cash Requested Excessive, try a smaller amount." So, I tried $180 and the machine responded, "Nope, still too high. Try a smaller amount." So, I tried $160 and the machine responded, "NO NO NOO!! THAT'S STILL TOO MUCH!!!! Try a MUCH smaller amount." So, I tried $140 and the machine responded, "YOU'RE HOARDING FOR Y2K AREN'T YOU???? DON'T YOU KNOW THAT YOU ONLY NEED MONEY FOR A 3 DAY STORM?? TRY $100, THAT SHOULD BE PLENTY!" I was really pissed off at this point, so I tried $100 like the machine suggested and the machine responded, "FORGET IT, WE ALREADY GAVE COKIE ROBERTS $60, GO BORROW SOME FROM HER AND LEAVE US ALONE." Then it ate my card.Very odd.
Has anyone else had this experiance?

The T.V. politic program "This Week, with Sam Donaldson", was dedicated to Y2K this last Sunday. Sam wasn't there, but Cokie Roberts was. She made a quip that she couldn't get out the amount she wanted to from her ATM(I didn't realize ATM's had $1000 bills..LOL). FWIW.

Did someone change the spelling of experience and forget to tell me?Very odd.

Actually, that's happened to me a number of times. The causes? Either my account funds were insufficient to meet my request, or the ATM machine's stock of cash was insufficient to meet my request.

Been taking out $300 a day for a week or so, ATM is too happy to do it. I know I will get a refusal if I keep it up, happened a few years ago when I did this same thing and had to call the bank to get it enabled again. Some kind of trigger or something alerts them.

The account has plenty of money in it, and the guy after me got cash, so it was not out of dollars.Interesting

Tsk tsk tsk, folks ... just now going to the ATMS? You should have been setting it aside gradually for a while now! ;-)

Bruce, Since the general public has not been rushing the ATMs, we are just going back for seconds. Gosh, I could use another $500.
